レッスンで出てきた文法・単語SENTENCE STRUCTURES: 
  1. If I rang somebody up when they were at work but they weren't available immediately I'd leave a message.
  2. Science can provide us with artificial arms, legs, teeth, hair etc.
  3. The idiom "pull someone's leg" means "joke with someone, by making them believe something that is not true".
  4. By the "rush hour" in a large city, we mean the time when everyone rushes to work or home from work.
  5. When we use a noun for the first time ¡n a conversation,we use the article "a" or "the" .
  6. If we then refer to the same thing or person again,we normally use "a" or "the".
  7. We use the definite article "the" when we use a noun for the first time,only when the speaker and the listener both know who or what is being talked about.
  8. Yes,weusethe indefinite article when we talk about people's jobs.
  9. No, I wouldn't like to be a teacher.
  10. Yes, I know someone who works as a waiter.
  11. No, I don't note down all the new English words you hear.
  12. Yes,I take notes in a notebook during the lesson.

GRAMMAR: 

*The indefinite article a" (or anfl) is used when we use a noun for the first time. If we then refer to the same thing or person again, we normally use the definite article "the". For example. "Yesterday, I received a letter and an email. I haven't read the letter yet, but I have read the email". 
*We sometimes use the definite article "the" when we use a noun for the first time, but only when the speaker and the listener both know who or what is being talked about. For example. "Ah. Doctor Jones. Good morning. The woman who phoned yesterday has arrived for her appointment." Here, it is clear which woman we are talking about - the woman who phoned yesterday.
*Another use of the indefinite article 'a" is when we talk about people's jobs. For example, we say "She wants to become a doctor", or "He works asa waiter".
