Callan New Edition Stage 9 Lesson 127 on page 703 we continue ''Dictation 84'' and Lesson 128 on page 704

GRAMMAR AND EXPLANATION:
Using nouns as adjectives
1. We can often use a noun as an adjective in English simply by putting it immediately before another noun, as in the expression "train station". When we do this. the word ''train" becomes an adjective to describe the noun ''station". For example, a shoe shop is a shop; the word "shoe" tells us what it sells. A book cover is a cover for a book.
2. Sometimes, these expressions are used so often that they eventually become one word. For example, ''ashtray", "bedroom", "toothbrush" etc.

SENTENCE STRUCTURED:
-I ate curry rice in our company's cafeteria.
-I will play with my cats after the lesson.
-There is a fireworks festival here in our my place tomorrow.
-The festival will start at 5:00 pm and the fireworks display will start at 7:00 pm.
-I will watch it tomorrow.

-A water bottle is a bottle that ¡s made to carry water.
-We eat dinner from a dinner plate.

There are various means of transport we can use these days, but in the old days, people only had the choice of going on foot or on horseback, or by some horse-drawn form of transport.
Being overweight is usually due to overeating.
One usually needs to be taught how to operate a factory machine.
Unity is essential for success in a battle.
Tom is the elder of the two children, though even he is not very old.
They just could not decide whether to rent a house for a fortnight or stay at a hotel.
Eventually, however, they chose to rent a house.
